Kebbi State Government has approved the sum of 8 Million Naira for the Respond of Contagious Bovine Pleuro Pneumonia Outbreak In Fakai, Zuru And Koko Besse Local Government Area

His Excellency the Executive Governor of Kebbi State Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu has approved the sum of 8 million Naira for a rapid and immediate response of an outbreak of Contagious Bovine Pleuro Pneumonia (CBPP) in Fakai, Zuru and Koko Besse local government area. CBPP is a contagious bacterial disease that affect cattle and it is characterized by high mortality which lead to a great economic loss.

This was disclosed by Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of the Animal Health, Husbandry and Fisheries who is also the acting Head of Service, Alhaji Tanko Musa Magaji mni. He said that the funds were used to purchase vaccines, drugs and other veterinary inputs. He also commended the state government for this kind gesture and timely intervention.
Commenting on the development the Director Veterinary Service, Dr. Bala Kakale applaud the state government for its effort. He promised to take all necessary action to suppress the spread of the disease in the state. He further said that over 50 veterinary doctors and animal health workers were mobilized to the site of the outbreak covering Fakai, Zuru and Koko Besse local government area. According to him, about 50,000 cattle are estimated to be vaccinated during the exercise which is ongoing.

In his reaction the head of Community in Gora Marafa, Fakai Local government, Alhaji Umar Magaji, thank the state government for this laudable project and he promised to support the present administration to achieve all its activities that have direct bearing to the lives of his people. He also called on his people to come out en mass to grab this opportunity and the vaccination is free. It is on record that his Excellency the executive governor of Kebbi State, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, had approved CONMESS 7 for Veterinary Doctors in the state. This implies that now a Veterinary doctor can be promoted up to grade Level 17 and retire with an enhance package. This approval was one of the few of its kind in this country and this boost the morale of the veterinary doctors in the state. Veterinarians in the state have shown commitment and dedication to their duties and they are ready to support the administration of his Excellency Senator Bagudu for the development of livestock in the state
