The Kebbi State Government has commenced the process of decongesting prisons in the state following the approval of the exercise by Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu in line with the directive from the federal government to decongest prisons so as to protect inmates from contracting the dreaded Corona virus disease.

The exercise started on Tuesday 21/4/2020 with compiling the names of the inmates and subsequent release of the prisoners.

Fire has razed the Central Medical Store belonging to Kebbi State Government in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State.

The store was where the main medical items and drugs belonging to the state are kept.

The fire which lasted up to four hours consumed medical items and drugs worth millions of naira as well as the building where the medical items were stored.

Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu who physically engaged in the effort to quench the fire and evacuation of some of the items salvaged from the inferno described the incident as a ' tragic development'.
