PRESS RELEASE: Covid-19: Kebbi Students to Receive Lessons via Internet, Electronic Media
All arrangements have been put in place for the commencement of teaching of Primary and Secondary School students in Kebbi State, through the internet.
Such highly welcome and timely lessons would also be telecast through Television and Radio stations in the state.
This is as a result of the closure of schools due to Corona Virus pandemic as directed by the North Western Governors.
The Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Alhaji Magawata Aliero, disclosed this after holding a meeting with his Directors and Officials of the Ministry to finalize the commencement of the electronic and internet teaching to students at home.
He said, "I want to use this medium to tell you that e-tutorial is prepared to reach out to our students at home, due to the Corona Virus Pandemic."
Aliero also said the e-learning program was aimed primarily as assisting the students staying at to receive lessons on Mathematics, English Language, Physics, Civic Education, Agricultural Science and Economics.
According to him, Hajiya Asma’u Alkali, the Executive Secretary of Secondary School Management Board, will anchor the English language team, Muhammed Muhammed Kalgo, Director of Science, will lead the Mathematics team, the Director, Inspectorate Services, Ibrahim Sani Bena, will lead the Physics team.
Others include the Director, Resources Center, Malan Bala Magaji, who will lead the Civic Education team, Malan Bello Yauri, will be the one in charge of Agricultural Science team, while Malan Muhammad Kalgo, will take charge of the team to teach Economics.
The Commissioner further explained that, WhatsApp group for each of the teams would be made available for students and teachers to Lodge their questions or seek for more clarifications on the various subject matters.
Although he did not state when the program will end, he however said that, the e-learning will come to an end as soon as the Covid-19 pandemic was over.
He urged parents to monitor their children, to benefit from the program, while also thanking the media, especially the electronic media, for their sustained invaluable support and cooperation towards achieving the success of the program.
In a similar development also, the state Commissioner for Information Technology, Alhaji Abdullahi Magoro, said that, the programme would capture large number of students through the use of the Internet, tv and radio.
He explained that the program would go a long way in keeping the students busy learning at at home.
