Press Release: Mai Mala Buni, Bagudu, lead APC Governors to receive Matawalle into APC fold

After intense political brickbats, the Zamfara State Governor , Bello Matawalle has finally dumped the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP), and joined the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC ), on Tuesday.

The APC National Caretaker Committee and Extra Ordinary Convention Planning Committee, Chairman, Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni and the Chairman, Progressives Governors' Forum, Kebbi State Governor, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, led APC Governors to formally receive the new entrant to APC , at the Zamfara State Stadium.

The epoch-making event was attended by a mammoth crowd of elated party supporters and well wishers who thronged the Stadium, from 8 am to 7 pm when the program successfully and peacefully ended.

The event has therefore put to rest weeks of unabated speculations about the defection of the Zamfara Governor, hence, making the ruling APC to wax stronger and stronger .

This historic event also came at a time when all the political parties were getting set for the forthcoming 2023 General Elections, just as there is no doubt that, the Zamfara development is a good omen for the APC.

In his declaration remarks, Governor Matawalle said he joined the APC for the general development of Zamfara State and called on the people of Zamfara, particularly party stakeholders and politicians to join him to move Zamfara forward.

" Today, Governor Bello Matawalle has joined APC, I declare today that i am the leader of APC in Zamfara State.

' It is my call today on all the people of Zamfara to come and join APC for its progress, "he averred.

Matawalle also prayed for peace, progress and security to prevail in his state and Nigeria, in general.

The immediate past Governor of Zamfara State, AbdulAziz Yari said, " it is a home coming to Governor Matawalle to have joined the APC.

" Today, one of ours has joined us , we pray for the blessings of Allah for this day."

Yari further told the mammoth crowd that he has declared his solidarity to Governor Bello Matawalle to move Zamfara forward and has no any ambition for any position.

He thanked all those who graced the occasion from within and far to come and rejoice with them on what he described as a '' historic day in Zamfara ."

Earlier, the National Caretaker Chairman of APC, Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State, declared Gov. Bello Matawalle of Zamfara as the new Leader of APC in state and announced the dissolution of all party Chairmen in the state.

He happily stated that, APC would continue to wax stronger under the able leadership of President Muhammad Buhari.

Buni lauded the invaluable support and patience of party loyalists for coming out in large number to witness the grand event.

Mr Boss Mustapha , Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) , and Garba Shehu, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity also formed part of Federal Government's delegation to the ceremony .

Other important personalities who graced the occasion were Chairman of Northern Governors Forum, Plateau State Governor, Chief Simon Lalong , the governors of Borno, Kaduna, Kogi, Niger, Jigawa and Ogun among others.
